Rehabilitation Testimonials

Jill Holt

“Chris devised a training programme which kept my fitness up to a level that enabled me to get to the start line of the Bristol Half Marathon in Sept ’07. Recovery training continued so that I was able to set a personal best in the Bath Half 6 months later. I am now looking forward to setting a new PB in Bristol Sept 08.”

Before Jill Holt came to My Life Personal Training she had over trained. Her goal was the ‘07 Bristol Half Marathon. She had done lots of running (too much) and not enough strength work, core work and there was no really purpose to her training. This led to her achillies tendonitis, and eventually led to My Life Personal Training in July. From here onwards she did cycling and strength conditioning in the gym until the 3rd week of August ’07, just over 2 weeks before the event. At this point we did a practice run which went fine.

Jill completed the 07’ Bristol Half Marathon in a very respectable 1hr 56min.

Four days afterwards Jill went for a short run and there was a recurrence of the tendonitis. So her rehabilitation training started again. For 10 weeks she did e-centric loading exercises twice daily, whilst her training in the gym involved lots of alternative cardio vascular exercises and strength training. Then Jill went off-piste ski touring, she said it was the best and fittest she had ever been. So her next goal was the Bath Half Marathon ’08. She completed this in 1hr 50min with no consequential problems. Her next goal is Bristol Half ’08 in sub 1hr 50min.

“I book a massage with Chris every now and then. Each time I have a massage it reminds me that I need to book more often. It is so blissful having a massage at the end of the week and after a hard day’s work. There is nothing quite like it for relaxing me. I go home afterwards, have a nice hot drink and then go to bed. I sleep for at least 10 hours. When I wake up I feel fully rejuvenated and ready for a really good weekend"
